The Rudolfinum Subscription Series offers seven musically and dramaturgically captivating concert evenings. Linus Roth will perform Mieczysław Weinberg’s Violin Concerto in its Czech premiere. Robert Kružík will conduct Josef Suk’s mournful symphony Asrael. Christian Tetzlaff returns to the Radio Symphony Orchestra with the Czech premiere of Ondřej Adámek’s Violin Concerto. The Czech Radio Children’s Choir will commemorate the 90th birthday of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, while French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel’s birth with his dreamlike virtuosity. Look forward to a concert performance of Bartók’s opera Bluebeard’s Castle with bass Günther Groissböck under the baton of Robert Jindra, Stravinsky’s oratorio-opera Oedipus Rex conducted by chief conductor Petr Popelka, and Feld’s Cello Concerto with Tomáš Jamník!

Municipal House

The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra will enter the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House in both majestic and romantic fashion. Czech pianist Marek Kozák will perform the solo part in Massenet’s Piano Concerto. Conductor Robert Jindra and organist Christian Schmitt will guide us through Camille Saint-Saëns’s monumental Third Symphony. The collaboration between the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno, and conductor Tomáš Hanus will culminate in a performance of Mahler’s Second Symphony. Beethoven’s Triple Concerto—here in an original arrangement for accordion, mandolin, and piano—will be presented by Israeli artists Guy Mintus and Jacob Reuven. The concert series will conclude with a highlight: all four Brahms symphonies performed over two April evenings under the baton of chief conductor Petr Popelka.
