ABOUT
A musical journey of emotion and virtuosity as well as remarkable orchestral movements awaits you at this concert, which will offer works from Czech and foreign music. The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Jiří Habart, will present three compositions.
The opening Šárka, the overture to Zdeněk Fibich's opera, takes you into the world of Czech national opera. Inspired by the famous motif from the legend of the heroic woman Šárka, this piece is replete with dramatic tension and rich melodies that are typical of Fibich's music. This short overture has everything from passion to moments of lyrical quietude.
Concerto for Coloratura Soprano by Russian composer Reinhold Glier, featuring soprano soloist Veronika Rovná, is a work that stands out for its rich orchestration. The latter underlines the virtuoso soprano part.
The second part of the concert will feature Symphony No. 2 in E Minor, Op. 27 by Sergei Rachmaninoff. This music is both majestic and delicate, and the work is one of his most popular.
The concert will be broadcast live on Czech Radio Vltava.
