ABOUT
A musical experience that will appeal to you with its monumentality and spiritual depth – this is Symphony No. 2 in C Minor "Resurrection" by Gustav Mahler.
This concert by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Tomáš Hanus will feature this symphony by Mahler, known for its drama and expressiveness. In it, the composer tells a story of human suffering, hope and ultimate resurrection. It combines remarkable orchestration with deep questions about the search for the meaning of life. The work is in five movements and culminates in a final chorus that sings of the hope of eternal life. The author uses the full range of the orchestra and choir to express human emotions. The soloists of the evening will be Kateřina Kněžíková (soprano) and Václava Krejčí Housková (alto), while the Czech Philharmonic Choir of Brno will be performing with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. Mahler's work will thus shine in all its glory.
The concert will be broadcast live on Czech Radio Vltava.
