R4 - Jonathan Nott and Christian Tetzlaff
Follow me is the title of a concerto for violin and orchestra by Ondřej Adámek. The world première was in Munich in 2017 by Isabelle Faust, accompanied by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Peter Rundel. The opening poetic composition Blumine was originally the second movement of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D Major. However, the composer removed this Andante from the symphony after several performances. The dialogue between trumpet and orchestra develops lyrically and caresses us at the end with its tenderly shimmering atmosphere. The Mermaid is a symphonic poem by Alexander Zemlinsky, whose work combined late Romanticism with the approaches of the Second Viennese School.

ABOUT
Follow me is the title of a concerto for violin and orchestra by Ondřej Adámek. The world première was in Munich in 2017 by Isabelle Faust, accompanied by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Peter Rundel. The Czech première will be performed by violinist Christian Tetzlaff accompanied by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jonathan Nott.
The music originally illustrated the popular German poem Der Trompeter von Säckingen.
The Mermaid is a symphonic poem by Alexander Zemlinsky, whose work combined late Romanticism with the approaches of the Second Viennese School. He was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, but his real "mermaid" was the young Alma Schindler. Zemlinsky taught her composition, with Alma composing a number of songs to words by Rilke and Heine. Their passionate relationship ended in Zemlinsky's painful disappointment when Alma married Gustav Mahler.
The concert will be broadcast live on Czech Radio Vltava. A recording of the concert will also be broadcast on the Czech Radio D-dur programme every Wednesday.
