Inspector
„Sweep around your own front door, I have already done my part.” If Leaving is an image of yesterday, Inspector is an image of today. The last pieces of truth and love disappeared into the dustbin of history and finally there is some peace and quiet in which to do one’s work! In the course of only a few years the last became the first and the highest are those who used to be the lowest, and yet no one seems to mind. Until the inspection! No one can be trusted so what shall we do? There’s only one way out – the same way we used to get in – bribes! Everyone has a price ... and our hero will pay anything, even sell his own child. A very topical play about everyone getting what they wanted. The play is staged as a unique interconnection of two dramas, where Havel's Leaving (premiering on 14 November 2019) is directly linked to Gogol's Inspector. What happened to the promising politician Klein, who takes power in Leaving?
