Janáček vs. Shostakovich
At the beginning of the musical career of Leoš Janáček (1854-1928) was, among other things, the dream of becoming a piano virtuoso. Brno stages witnessed his interpretations of demanding works by world composers. He practised diligently and also composed small pieces for the piano. During his studies in Leipzig, however, he realised that a career as a concert pianist would not be right for him and the piano remained his helper in composing orchestral scores and also a means of expressing his most intimate feelings.
