ABOUT THE SUBSCRIPTION
Music enthusiasts will certainly be delighted by the resonant titles of the premieres, promising truly extraordinary experiences.
Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, in Martin Čičvák's conception, is driven to her crime by the indifferent surroundings and futile desire for love. How will she handle the pangs of conscience?
In collaboration with Collegium 1704, we have prepared the baroque opera Platée, telling the mythical story of an ugly nymph who becomes the target of mockery when she believes the rumor that Jupiter has fallen in love with her.
In cooperation with the Slovak National Theater, a new production of Verdi's Nabucco has been created. This opera about the Jews in Babylonian captivity has captivated audiences since its premiere in 1842, and we believe that our rendition will dazzle you, whether with choral scenes or magnificent staging.
Another gem is Cherubini's Medea, made famous by the singer Maria Callas. Our production is based on the Italian version, in which spoken word has been replaced by recitatives. It will be directed by the German director Roland Schwab, who has achieved success with productions such as Wagner's Tristan and Isolde in Bayreuth.
The theme of betrayal also appears in another title, Puccini's Manon Lescaut, being worked on by the well-known Sláva Daubnerová. How will beautiful Manon resolve the dilemma between true love and a life of comfort?
As part of the Year of Czech Music 2024, we will stage Fibich's Šárka at the National Theatre. The story of the Maidens' War, well known from Jirásek's Old Czech Legends, will be brought to life on stage by the German theater artist Kay Link, who has collaborated with the Dresden State Opera, among others.
You certainly have a lot to look forward to.
As part of the subscription, you will also have the opportunity to visit three beautiful venues where the performances will take place: the National Theatre, the Estates Theatre, and the State Opera House.
