The National Theatre
The Grand Serie
In this group, you'll traditionally find the best of the opera repertoire accompanied by beloved ballet, which holds true this year as well. You'll celebrate the Year of Czech Music 2024 with Smetana's "The Secret" followed by Shakespeare's drama. In Verdi's "Otello," you'll see performances by Denys Pivnický and Claudio Sgura. The baroque opera "Platée" will be a unique experience in its Czech premiere. Cherubini's "Medea" will bring a flood of emotions under the direction of Roland Schwab. In the ballet "Cinderella," you'll experience the magic of aesthetics and romantic love. Puccini's "Manon Lescaut" will offer melodic beauty and the dilemma of love and wealth. Wagner's "The Flying Dutchman" will impress with its ingenious stage and performances. The last title in this group will be Fibich's "Šárka," offering a non-traditional take on the heroic tale, under the direction of Kay Link.
