The set of Mendelssohn’s twelve youthful string symphonies forms the basis for the later peak Romantic symphony. The last of this series, which will be performed at our concert, is one of the most important. Moreover, our orchestra has extensive experience with them, as it has been consistently dedicated to their interpretation. Performer

Ludmila Pavlová is a Czech violinist who performs as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, both at home and abroad. Her motto is love and passion in music.

Ludmila has won the J. Muzika Competition with international participation in Nová Paka three times. At the age of 13, she made her debut at the Rudolfinum in Prague with Josef Suk as part of the concert cycle “Josef Suk Introduces Young Talents” and a year later she performed F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in E minor in the United Arab Emirates. In 2014, she was awarded the Winner of the Year Prize at the Václav Hudeček Academy in Luhačovice with a maestro instrument from the workshop of Petr Rácz and toured with Václav Hudeček. As a Dvořák Society’s Scholarship holder in London, she made her UK debut in 2018 at the Dartington International Music School’s Masterclasses with one of the most difficult pieces for solo violin, H. W. Ernst’s “The Last Rose of Summer”. In 2018, Ludmila was the overall winner of the International Violin Competition in Homage to Váša Příhoda “New European Talents” and the winner of the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation International Competition with the prize for the best interpretation of a work by Bohuslav Martinů and the Jaroslav and Zorka Zich Foundation Prize. In June 2019, she won the Gold Medal with High Distinction at the 4th Manhattan International Music Competition.

The young violinist has performed at many important festivals such as Prague Spring, Třeboňská Nocturna, The Antonín Dvořák International Music Festival, Haroldův Rakovník, Prague Clarinet Days, Český Krumlov International Music Festival, the Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival, Bruno Walter Music Days, etc. and has toured a large part of the world starting from London all the way to Japan. She has performed as a soloist with a number of orchestras and in chamber ensembles with important world performers. Her longest-running ensemble is the Mucha Trio (Anna Paulová – clarinet, Johanna Haniková – piano), with which she celebrates her tenth anniversary this year.

Ludmila has dealt with the issue of relaxation when playing an instrument for a long time. In 2021 she won the Grant Excellent Competition as part of her PhD at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where she conducted research for a year on Relaxation Techniques for Violinists from a psychological, physiological, and pedagogical point of view and their subsequent use in 20th and 21st century music. Since 2023 she has taught the course Authenticity and Flexibility in Musical Expression at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

Ludmila plays a historic instrument that she received as a gift from a Viennese sponsor and recently made her debut with it at the famous Musikverein Wein (Vienna Music Society).
