Wild Jo and intellectual Raisa could not be more different, yet a friendship with a capital F develops between them. As best friends, they survive the trials of primary and secondary school. But at the end of it, their first major challenge appears. Raisa is to leave their hometown to continue her studies at university, while Jo faces the search for a job. Their final evening together is far from easy, as though they realise that their separate paths in life may never meet again. Then a mysterious portal opens before them, leading to the legendary island of Nakali. Their grandmother once told them about the island and its mysterious inhabitants, and both girls had planned to travel there before growing up robbed them of much of their imagination and dreams. This is also why they hesitate to step into the unknown—the portal—but it mercilessly swallows them. Jo and Raisa suddenly find themselves in a world governed by its own rules, which they cannot understand at all. It is inhabited by strange creatures, and at least at first it is difficult to tell whether they intend to help or harm them. The girls soon discover that their greatest enemy is the island itself, because it feeds on their memories. Can they escape before they forget everything—their lives so far and their friendship?
