ABOUT THE FILM

Welcome to Rozumov—a village where everyone knows everything about everyone, neighbourly feuds are passed down through generations and no scandal stays behind closed gates for long. For years, the village has been divided by a war between two irreconcilable families. On one side stands Šmrha (Vasil Fridrich), on the other Průša (David Novotný), and both are convinced that truth, honour and common sense reside exclusively in their own homes. Their children Karel (Petr Uhlík) and Marie (Nelly Řehořová), however, are secretly in love despite their fathers. When Marie, following yet another family provocation, agrees to take part in the television reality show Wedding Blind, she causes quite a stir in Rozumov. Karel despairs, the parents rage, and a television crew arrives in the village along with an eccentric Swedish metal musician (Štěpán Kozub). In an alcoholic haze, Šmrha and Průša therefore agree to an unexpected truce and devise a plan to save their children from televised humiliation: they will secretly marry them by proxy.
