Jason Robert Brown’s captivating musical offers a unique insight into a five-year relationship between a man and a woman. From the initial infatuation through moments of supreme happiness to the lows and breakups. A powerful acting and singing challenge, which seems to have been written especially for Anna Prášilová Fialová and Ondřej Rychlý.

The musical The Last Five Years is one of the most distinctive and original works by American composer Jason Robert Brown. It tells the intimate story of two young people—actress Cathy and writer Jamie—who experience five years of love, ups and downs together. What makes it truly exceptional is the way the story is told: we follow Cathy from their painful breakup back to their initial enchantment, while Jamie’s journey flows classically from their first date to their final farewell. Their lives thus meet on stage at only one moment – on their wedding day.

Brown’s music, acclaimed for its melodic richness and emotional depth, combines elements of jazz, pop, and classic musical theater. This creates space for an exceptionally intense theatrical experience—and, above all, for great acting and singing opportunities. The entire musical rests on just two performers, who must act out a gripping story on stage alone, without the support of supporting characters. The Last Five Years is therefore not only an intimate account of a relationship between two people, but also a real acting challenge and an opportunity to shine.

VIP tickets (rows 10 and 11) include an exclusive backstage tour, including a visit to the terrace with a beautiful view of Prague, which will take place after the performance. The meeting point for tour participants is on the left side of the stage. The tour lasts approximately 20 minutes.
