The National Theatre
Senior cycle III
This cycle will offer a diverse mix of genres: comedy, tragedy, and fairy tales. Shakespeare's work remains inspiring, as director Daniela Špinar interprets the friendly intrigue uniting seemingly incompatible personalities in marriage. Puccini's music in Nagasaki captures Cio-Cio-San's love and disappointment, as does Verdi's "Otello" with grand choral scenes and jealousy. Jean-Christophe Maillot's neoclassical ballet will present a fairytale story, while Sergei Prokofiev's "Cinderella" brings romance and forgotten memories.
