The Ballet of the National Theatre Brno is introducing a unique project, another dimension of dance – Ballet NdB 3, a platform for exceptional performers of mature dancing age. The Ballet of the National Theatre Brno is introducing a unique project, another dimension of dance – Ballet NdB 3, a platform for exceptional performers of mature dancing age. The inspiration for this concept was, as with the junior ballet, the approach of world-renowned choreographer Jiří Kylián, who established the philosophy of three dimensions of artistic career at the world-famous Nederlands Dans Theater almost fifty years ago.
Ballet NdB 3 premiered for EXPO 2025 in collaboration with the Brno Philharmonic and Czech piano virtuoso Ivo Kahánek.
On an Overgrown Path Mário Radačovský, in his interpretation of “On an Overgrown Path,” brings to the stage stories about the fragility of life. Seven dancers in his conception portray small stories about time that flows relentlessly for us all, and about moments when the present can suddenly transform into eternity. Janáček’s timeless music, with its apparent simplicity, perfectly underscores the choreography, which reminds us of an important truth – that every ending also brings the hope of a new beginning.
Dinner Two characters, a man and a woman, are preparing a festive dinner. Unexpected news suddenly changes the atmosphere of the preparations – what appears to be good news may hold the opposite meaning for one of them. Guests are at the door, it’s necessary to maintain the appearance of harmony and social conventions… Where will the situation lead? Choreography set to the composition by Bohuslav Martinů and Vít Gregor.
The NdB 3 project brings together charismatic soloists whose careers have been associated with the National Theatres in Prague, Bratislava, and Brno – Nikola Márová, Klaudia Radačovská, Ivona Jeličová, Andrej Szabo, Martin Svobodník, Petr Hos, Ilia Mironov. These artists possess rich experience gained through collaboration with significant choreographers, exceptional charisma, and other qualities that younger dancers are still acquiring. By utilizing their experience, choreographers can create specific works that transcend ordinary repertoire in both their content and interpretation.
