S2 - Petr Popelka & Čarotaj
ČaroTaJ. The name captures the charm of Moravian Slovakia – the home region of the singers Taťána and Jitka and echoes of their childhood spent among folklorists led by their father Lubomír Málek, lead folk band violinist and singer with a sparkling voice. His musical sensibility and unmistakable phrasing have won a special place in the hearts of his audiences as well as in the souls and musical expressions of his daughters. Both sisters kept their father’s heritage even after moving from Moravian Slovakia to Prague where they pursue their own professional paths. And so, in 2022, Taťána Roskovcová and Jitka Novotná met bass clarinetist Petr Valášek, bassoonist Ondřej Roskovec and cellist Jan Keller, wonderful musicians and performers of classical and jazz music enchanted by the inspiring songs of Moravian Slovakia. Joined by the chief conductor of the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra Petr Popelka, who will play the piano, and mezzo-soprano Christina Bock, this ensemble promises an exceptional experience.
