Pat Metheny | One Day Jazz Festival

Pat Metheny, a multiple Grammy Award winner, is coming to Prague with his latest project, Side-Eye, which is not just a band but an ever-evolving creative workshop where Metheny collaborates with the most exciting talents of the young American jazz generation. Side-Eye III+ represents the latest chapter in this concept—a bold, energetic, and brilliantly constructed ensemble in which the legendary guitarist reveals previously unknown facets of his personality within an inspiring musical environment.

The concert will feature well-known themes from Metheny’s oeuvre in a completely new interpretation. The young members of Side-Eye III+ enrich the repertoire with fresh rhythmic ideas, electronics, and unexpected improvisations, while Metheny guides them with elegance and natural ease in their ensemble playing.

The Side-Eye project was conceived as Metheny’s platform for intergenerational dialogue—it bridges the experience of one of today’s most influential musicians with the energy and creativity of the emerging jazz scene. The result is music that is both deeply rooted in tradition and open to new sonic landscapes, rhythmic structures, and technological elements.

The concert will take place on June 26, 2026, at Prague’s Hybernia Theater as part of the international One Day Jazz Festival, which has long been bringing top artists from the global music scene to Central Europe.

About the Festival and the Organizer

The One Day Jazz Festival is one of the most significant jazz platforms in Central Europe. Since its founding in 2008, it has systematically connected the local and international scenes, creating a space for unique musical encounters of the highest artistic caliber. The festival is known not only for the quality of its programming but also for its emphasis on education, collaboration, and the long-term development of its audience.

Behind the festival is its founder, drummer and producer Martin Valihora, an internationally recognized musician who has performed on the New York scene and collaborated with a number of prominent global and European artists. He established himself on the Czech music scene through collaborations with many Czech jazz and pop artists and currently performs in Dan Bárta’s band Illustratosphere.

In 2026, the festival also made a significant entry onto the Prague music scene—through the Wanderers project, it launched its activities at the Hybernia Theatre as early as February, when Esperanza Spalding performed there to great acclaim. This concert marked the festival’s successful establishment in Prague and paved the way for other major projects within its program.
