The National Moravian - Silesian theatre

A new rendition of the opera in the repertoire since 30 November 2010 The story of the Parisian courtesan Violetta Valéry has been touching audiences for over 150 years. It should be noted that the world premiere of the opera in 1853 ended in fiasco especially because until then Verdi had been known for his operas with historical themes. La Traviata presented a modern topic – a story of a modern woman, a courtesan, whose tragic life aroused sympathy. Today it is one of the productions that have firmly settled in repertoires of all opera houses all over the world.
