Old Town Hall - WITH SKIP THE LINE ELEVATOR

An icon. National cultural heritage asset. A symbol of Prague's history. The oldest Czech self-government institution. At the end of World War II, the vaults served as the centre of the Prague Uprising against the Nazis. The town hall was almost destroyed by shelling and so was the 1313 bell. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary's altar got severely damaged. However, the people of Prague worked hard to get their national treasure back. Enjoy the Astronomical Clock with the twelve apostles procession, the majestic state rooms, tender beauty of the Virgin Mary Chapel and the mysterious Romanesque-Gothic vaults. Take the futuristic elevator or climb up to the tower for breathtaking views. The e-ticket is valid for 30 days.

Description

ABOUT OLD TOWN HALL

The Old Town Hall was established in 1338 as the seat of the Old Town administration. The oldest part of the complex consists of the southern wing a beautiful Gothic tower with a bay chapel and a unique astronomical clock – known as the Orloj – where, every hour between 8 am and 11 pm, the twelve apostles appear. The Gothic Revival eastern wing of the Town Hall was destroyed during the Prague Uprising on May 8, 1945 and was never rebuilt.
