ABOUT THE CONCERT

Pavel Šporcl's Christmas programme uniquely combines a festive Christmas atmosphere with the virtuoso violin playing of one of the Czech Republic's most distinctive artists. The solo programme features not only popular Christmas compositions and carols from around the world, but also works by giants of the violin repertoire such as Niccolò Paganini and Johann Sebastian Bach, together with Pavel Šporcl's own compositions. The concert follows loosely on Pavel Šporcl's Christmas album Christmas on the Blue Violin, recorded in 2017 with the renowned Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for Universal Music. Within a single month, the album entered the all-genre TOP 10 chart and achieved platinum sales. Its success was followed in 2017 by the highly successful Christmas on the Blue Violin tour, attended by 13,000 listeners. A chamber version of the project subsequently attracted another 10,000 visitors on a tour throughout the Czech Republic in 2018.
