Why did ABBA consider taking the same name as a canned-fish company, how did the Soviet Union come to pay for their music in oil, and what surrounded the group’s return after forty years? Pavel Klusák’s production revisits the extraordinary story of one of the world’s most famous bands – their rise to success, unmistakable music and a phenomenon that continues to speak to new generations.

Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid return together with sequins, flared trousers and broken hearts. ABBA disproved the idea that a band formed by two married couples could not succeed, yet they paid a high price for global fame. Their private lives became public property as well as part of the promotion of their records, while the breakdown of two relationships unfolded before millions of fans amid the changing world of the music business.
