Description
This deepest instrument of the string family has a surprisingly wide range of possibilities. From its usual bass positions, it can easily reach the heights of a violin, where it can play, for example, Rachmaninov's famous Vocalise, and its rich, full-color pizzicato, famous mainly in the jazz world, is completely unique.
Ondřej Balcar is a member of the Czech Philharmonic, intensively devoted to the interpretation of baroque music and also to fine arts. He is the author of the book "Music in Pictures" and has illustrated other books.
