Description
Theatre of JK Tyl is the main theater in Pilsen region and an important cultural center of Pilsen. It has three scenes, Bolshoi Theatre, New Theatre, a small scene (in the building of the New Theatre). Art Nouveau theater belongs to important cultural monument of the city. Hall capacity is 444 seats.
The building of the Bolshoi Theatre was built in 1902 and belongs to important cultural monument of the city. Its designer was the architect Antonin Balšánek (eg. The author of the Municipal House in Prague), author of Curtain is one of the most important Czech painters of the 19th and 20th century Augustin Němejc.
Theatre of JK Tyl said in recent seasons, many nationwide important artistic achievements. Opera Salome by Richard Strauss, the world premiere of the ballet to the music of Peter Marysa Wajsar, drama Leaving by Václav Havel and many others.
Plzeňský balet among the best in the Czech Republic, eg. 10 years she worked as a soloist Ivona Jeličová (Thalia Prize winner 2009) and a half century is a soloist George Acorn (holder of the Thalia Award 2003). Significant opera was a period between 1996 and 2004 when he was head of the Opera and principal conductor of the opera orchestra Petr Kofroň. He said there eg. Symphony no. 1 and no. 5 by Gustav Mahler. JK Tyl Theatre regularly appears abroad (Germany, Switzerland) and the Czech Republic (National Theatre in Prague, Karlovy Vary, Hradec Kralove, etc.).
