Matejča & Šulc: Café 1930
Violinist Daniel Matejča and accordionist Martin Šulc present the music of Astor Piazzolla, the composer who transformed Argentine tango from dance music into concert art. The performers recorded this programme for Supraphon, where the album will be released on June 20. The concert afternoon will also include the ceremonial launch of the new CD, attended by both artists.

The program guides listeners through the evolution of tango, from its roots in the streets of Buenos Aires to its modern concert form. It features the famous suite Histoire du Tango, the dramatic Suite del Ángel, and iconic pieces such as Oblivion, Ave Maria, and the energetic Escualo.
Piazzolla’s music combines the passion of tango with inspiration from classical music, counterpoint, and jazz, creating a unique world full of emotion, rhythm, and virtuosity.
