ABOUT THE CONCERT
The first subscription concert of the 2027 season opens with Antonín Dvořák’s Slavonic Dance No. 5 in A major “Skočná”. One of the most popular pieces from the Slavonic Dances cycle stands out for its lively rhythm, dancing energy and melodic freshness inspired by Czech folk music.
It will be followed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, one of the most frequently performed piano concertos of the Romantic era. The solo part will be performed by Israeli pianist Alon Kariv.
The concert closes with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major. One of the composer’s most optimistic symphonies enchants with its rich melodies, colourful orchestration and immediate joy, making it one of the most frequently performed works of the Czech symphonic repertoire.
