Boris Band Combination

ABOUT THE CONCERT

Boris Band Combination is the original project of pianist, composer, producer and founder of the Jazz Open Ostrava festival, Boris Urbánek, who has for many years been one of the distinctive figures on the Czech jazz scene. Built primarily on his own compositions, the energetic fusion combines jazz with other musical influences and gives space to striking melodies, instrumental virtuosity and improvisation.

The programme will feature mainly original compositions by Boris Urbánek, including Hysterka, Jump with Me, My Spanish Way and My Birdland. These will be complemented by Toad's Place by American keyboardist Jeff Lorber. Alongside the band’s leader, outstanding Czech instrumentalists will also perform: saxophonists Jiří Halada and Kryštof Janáček, guitarist Vít Rokyta, bassist Jenny Krompolc and drummer Vojtěch Sedlák. Together, they will offer an evening full of contemporary jazz, fusion and distinctive original music.

With intermission. Approximate duration: 140 minutes.
