ABOUT THE CONCERT

The most famous melodies from the world of film music

The Prague Film Orchestra presents a spectacular concert programme dedicated to the most famous melodies from the world of film music. Led by conductor Matyáš Vonz, the large string orchestra offers an impressive musical experience filled with emotion, suspense, romance and cinematic atmosphere.

The programme features works by some of the most important film composers, particularly Hans Zimmer, John Williams and Ennio Morricone. You will hear celebrated film themes that have become an integral part of world cinema and can evoke memories of the most powerful moments from film stories within just a few bars.

The programme includes the magnificent suite from Pirates of the Caribbean, the dramatic music from Gladiator, Ennio Morricone’s unforgettable melodies from the legendary western Once Upon a Time in the West, the adventurous score from Jurassic Park, the magical world of Harry Potter and Hans Zimmer’s compelling modern score for Interstellar.

Hans Zimmer’s music, renowned for its grandeur and dramatic power, John Williams’s unmistakable orchestral themes and Ennio Morricone’s unforgettable melodies form the heart of a programme that demonstrates the extraordinary power of film music performed by a live orchestra.

Conductor Matyáš Vonz, a young, charismatic and talented musician, leads the orchestra with energy and a strong feeling for the cinematic character of each composition. Under his direction, familiar film melodies gain a new dimension and reveal their rich orchestral colours.

Alongside international film music, the Prague Film Orchestra also focuses on Czech cinema. The programme may include famous melodies from Czech films and fairy tales, including music from the legendary Three Wishes for Cinderella, one of the most beloved film melodies among Czech audiences.

The concert is intended for a broad audience across generations – film lovers, orchestral music enthusiasts and everyone wishing to experience familiar film stories through a live large string orchestra. Its atmosphere is especially powerful in large concert halls, theatres, cultural centres, congress venues and music festivals, where the orchestra’s rich sound and the strength of film music can be fully appreciated.

The Prague Film Orchestra invites you to an evening when famous film melodies return in the full splendour of a live orchestra. Come and enjoy music that can open the door to worlds known from the silver screen within just a few bars.

A CONCERT IN THE UNIQUE ATRIUM HALL

The concert will take place in the new multifunctional Atrium Hall, the main social and cultural space of Císařské lázně. Its striking modern structure has been sensitively inserted into the historic courtyard of this national cultural monument without touching the original building.

Thanks to its flexible layout, the hall is also designed to accommodate symphony orchestras. The combination of impressive contemporary architecture, a distinctive interior and the atmosphere of one of Karlovy Vary’s most beautiful spa buildings will provide an exceptional setting for a concert of film music.
