ABOUT THE CONCERT
Concert in the theater, organized by the Club of Parents and Friends of the Vysoké Mýto Academy of Arts
The journey of Tomáš Kač, a pianist endowed with natural talent and immeasurable diligence, but also a composer and arranger, is an amazing story of fulfilled life dreams. He bases his solo recitals primarily on improvisation, with which he plays his unique style based on the fusion of classical, jazz and traditional Romani music to unrepeatable musical ends. Critics describe his musical journey as unique - a "box" suis generis.
Tomáš Kačo composes and arranges music for choirs and orchestras, he also works on film music. He likes to prepare topics for the organizers. His ability to take a fresh look at established topics is highlighted, he is often referred to as
"The opener".
"It is clear that a very remarkable personality of a composer, performer and arranger has grown up here, who has enormous talent and the potential to bring top performance art closer to a wide range of people. The way in which he can revive, enrich and illuminate classic pieces from different genres of music is truly admirable." Ostravan for MHF Leoš Janáček
He has performed numerous recitals in Europe and the USA. At the request of the Czech Philharmonic, he composed in 2021 for the final Open Air concert of the 125th season variations on the theme of the most famous Czech opera arias with the characteristic name Fantasy Open Air. For the ceremonial opening concert of the presidency of the Czech Republic in the Council of the European Union, he wrote a piece called Stronger than Yesterday for the PKF - Prague Philharmonia orchestra, commissioned by the Government Office of the Czech Republic, to be premiered in July 2022 in the Rudolfinum in Prague and then in the Brussels cultural center Palais des beaux-arts - BOZAR. On the day of Czech statehood, September 28, 2023, he received the highest award - the Silver Medal - from the hands of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. As a thank you to everyone who helped him on his way, he organized a festive concert in the Riding Hall of the Prague Castle under the auspices and with the participation of the President of the Republic Petr Pavel and the First Lady Eva Pavlova with the characteristic name "Stronger than yesterday". In 2026
he premiered his symphonic suite Labyrinth of the World and Paradise of the Heart at the Český Krumlov Music Festival together with the Prague Philharmonia under the baton of Jiří Habart.
After graduating from the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava, the Prague Music Academy and the prestigious Berklee College of Music, he lives in Los Angeles. He openly says that he is not only in the United States for himself - he wants to be an example for other Roma children with his famous "obsession with music". However, applauding Carnegie Hall is only one variant of life's dreams.
Tomas symbolically released his debut My Home, on which multiple Grammy award winner John Patitucci, Ondřej Gregor Brzobohatý, Kühn's children's choir, as well as Kač's younger sister Veronika are guests, on October 28, 2018.
This was followed by a series of five singles gradually released in December 2020, symbolically in the dates of canceled concerts during the pandemic. In them, he plays with traditional Czech carols, but also pays tribute to L. v. Beethoven in the composition "For Ludvig, yours Elise". In 2022, he releases the soft single Nocturne - Stronger than yesterday. In 2023, he released the EP Live from Prague - a selection of songs from his recital at Studio DVA in Prague.
With the second self-titled album MY SONGBOOK released at the end of 2024, Tomáš Kačo paid tribute to the creators who forever influenced his childhood with their songs. It features original variations on Holubí dům, Stray Morning or Give me more love.
