Vertige

Vertige is the newest project by AirGym Art Company, set to premiere in August 2026 at the Letní Letná festival.

The performers focus on aerial acrobatics using unconventional objects, exploring new suspension methods and experimenting with stunt techniques. At the same time, they question the essence and meaning of the creative process itself.

True vertigo is defined as the illusion of movement of one’s own body or the objects around it. This phenomenon can occur, among other situations, when we spin very quickly — for example, on a carousel.

Vertigo is dizziness. The dizziness experienced by audiences watching circus performances or by acrobats after completing a dangerous trick, but also the dizziness arising from the depths of one’s own mind. The dizziness of an artist presenting their own work.

It is the dizziness felt in moments of creative flow — when time ceases to exist, the work takes control over its creator, and begins to follow its own path. The artist experiences overwhelming excitement intertwined with the fear of whether they will ever be able to stop.

Vertigo is also the dizziness of stillness and creative paralysis. A loss of balance when inspiration suddenly disappears, while the world continues moving forward regardless.
