ABOUT THE CONCERT

Smetana's Má vlast (My Country) is not only the most played work by the Czech Philharmonic, together with - Dvořák's Novosvětská, but also an emblem composition that is part of a respectable interpretation tradition. Our orchestra played Má vlast for the first time already in 1901 and since then more than 700 times! Hundreds of philharmonics and legendary conductors Václav Talich, Rafael Kubelík, Karel Ančerl, Václav Neumann, Jiří Bělohlávek participated in it... How do they feel about Smetana´s score – and their parts – today philharmonic? How does Petr Altrichter view the unique cycle of symphonic poems? And what interests Marek Eben about "Má vlast"?
