Chamber musicThe Janáček Quartet, an ensemble with almost eighty years of tradition, will present its interpretation version of the late and now iconic work of Leoš Janáček. On the contrary, Antonín Dvořák wrote the melancholic Quartet in D minor when he was still a young, unknown author. Between the two works, dedicated to the celebration of the Year of Czech Music, Dmitri Shostakovich's Seventh Quartet will be heard, which the author dedicated to the memory of his wife Nina. stars back at home, the New Zealand Quartet bring their interpretation of Leoš Janáček’s music to the Rudolfinum. In 2021, they recorded two string quartets by the composer. For this programme, they also present music of their own country by Gareth Farr, whose quartet Te Koanga (“Spring”) was inspired by the singing of the tūī, a bird native to New Zealand.
